Sakaerat Conservation and Snake Education Team (SCSET) is dedicated to conserving snake species throughout the Sakaerat Biosphere Reserve. We use research to inform people about snake ecology and counter long-standing anti-snake stigma. We see the pairing of research and community outreach as a solution to human-snake conflict — reducing both envenomations and snake persectuion.
The Sakaerat Biosphere Reserve is in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, covering 360km² of agriculture, settlements and forest fragments. Central in the reserve is a 80km² protected core area. The core area is mainly two forest types; dry dipterocarp and dry evergreen forest. A forest fragment of this size presents a critical resource for wildlife, and a perfect location for research.
